There Is No Striving Here

I hear him say: (2.19.23)

“Good child! You thrive in discipline. It’s a joy for me to see you establish clear boundaries in your life and schedule to thrive in health and wellness. I see you cutting off the hand that leads to sin and I rejoice with my angels in heaven. It’s like you determine to make room to hear and follow me. This is how disciples are disciplined. They cut out distractions so they can hear the teacher’s voice. Come in close to hear me more clearly. I want to reveal my secrets to you. (Jeremiah 33:3) It’s only in intimacy that secrets are shared. It’s in proximity. That’s why you lay your head upon my chest to hear my heart for you. When you’ve drawn close, I can answer your hearts cry with ease. As a result, you can walk in confidence that you’ve heard correctly.

Just like John leaned upon my chest at the dining table and asked who it was that would betray me, (John 13:23-26) my answers come as you and I commune together.

Come eat at my table again.

Come walk with me in the cool of the day like Adam and Enoch. I want relationship with you. Let it all be about relationship with me and your garden will be filled with beautiful, satisfying blossoms and fruit- so much fruit you won’t be able to contain your joy as you harvest it! Let me be the one thing your heart seeks after. (Matthew 6:33) You won’t ever regret it.

My desire for you is to keep your path straight. Don’t vier off-course into the worries of this world and the deceitfulness of wealth. Come, sit at my table, and abide in my love. Wrap yourself always in me. I’m always with you. Come, soak in my presence and my peace. Let me fill you up to overflowing with everything you need, including my wisdom and joy. (1 Corinthians 1:30, Psalm 16:11)

My desires for you are pure. My love for you is strong- stronger than death and the grave. (Song of songs 8:6) I’ve overcome these things so you can walk in resurrection life with me. You hold hands with “The Resurrection and The Life,” when you walk with me.  Even through the darkest valley I surround you, uphold you, and fill your cup to overflowing. I seat you at my table in the presence of your enemies. (Psalm 23:4-6) In me is fullness of joy. Come in close and experience joy unspeakable and eternal pleasures that heal your brokenness. (Psalm 16:11) There is no striving here, just returning and resting in me. (Isaiah 30:15) Come, feel me wrap my arms around you like the father did the prodigal son upon his return. Don’t try to earn my approval just come and accept it.” Selah.
