Give Him Room Today

Hidden within Jesus’ birth story is a lesson on embracing weakness and dependence on God, our Father. This should speak volumes to us as believers. This is a roadmap for how God wants us to position ourselves.

In our weakness, God’s strength is made complete. For when we are weak, then we are strong! (2 Corinthians 12:9-10) His power is made manifest and his grace and supernatural support is made evident. He comes to our aid and we are protected just as Jesus was!

When we lay aside our natural problem solving strategies and simply, by faith, put our situations and lives into his hands, we give him room to move and allow his strong arm to deliver us. (Psalm 118:16-17, Psalm 136:12) Just like Jesus was hidden from the king that wanted to kill him, so we are hidden in God when we simply rest in him. He is our refuge, a strong tower we run into and are saved. (Proverbs 18:10) “Some may trust in horses, some may trust in chariots, but we will trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7) Come, “humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and he will exalt you at the proper times. Cast all your cares upon him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:6&7)

“Lord, my heart is meek before you. I don’t consider myself better than others. I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head— such as your complex mysteries and wonders— that I’m not yet ready to understand. I am humbled and quieted in your presence. Like a contented child who rests on its mother’s lap, I’m your resting child and my soul is content in you. O people of God, your time has come to quietly trust, waiting upon the Lord now and forever.”
