Are You Listening?

I was thinking about Hagar thisare morning- How God heard her son’s cry and saw her in the wilderness when she was completely hopeless and filled with sorrow.

What stood out to me this morning when I read the account again, was how she heard an Angel of God (probably Jesus) speak to her from heaven… We can hear Jesus speak into our situations when we’re downtrodden and hopeless too.

Also, that he promised her hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11) she realized he had not forsaken her but was for her, not against her.. He was/is “El Roi” the God who sees..

This was the second time he found Hagar thirsty in the wilderness and spoke to her of plans to prosper her and incredible destiny over her offspring.. the offspring she had left to die believing there was no hope for him.. He does the same for us. He speaks over what seems dead or dying in our lives, what feels completely hopeless.

Also, he opened her eyes to see the well of water that was previously hidden from her. He gives us refreshment in Him, the water. We can drink of Jesus, of his Word and of His Spirit, and find our thirst quenched and hope renewed once more.

Genesis 21:14-16

“Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.” She also said, “Have I truly seen the One who sees me?””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬
