Stay Awake Oh My Sprit, Stay Awake!

“I’m saying be careful you don’t fall asleep on the job. Stir up the Spirit within you. Awaken to my presence and determine not to fall asleep. Like the young virgins, you need to gain oil of intimacy by spending time with me. Don’t allow yourself to get distracted and pulled to-and-fro by the demands of this natural world. 

Seek FIRST my kingdom. Seek Me first. There are so many things that sparkle and shine, that want to pull you away from oneness with me. They can’t if you stay awake in my Spirit. 

“How do I stay awake?” You ask? 

Well first off- begin with me. Start your day with me. Start your every task with me. Acknowledge me in all you’re wanting to do. Ask me for guidance. Ask my advice. Once I’ve enlightened- shone a light on your path- and given you the green light to go, commit your way to me. Stay in prayer as you do what I’ve called you to. Stay in worship. Stay in constant need of connection with me. 

When you recognize your thirst you find yourself water. When you recognize your thirst for my presence you draw near. 

Ask me to pour out my fire on the altar of your heart to burn up all the chaff and set you ablaze with passionate eyes only for me. 

Friendship with the world has deadened your spiritual eyes and put you in enmity with me. Worldly thinking leads to a lack of faith. Worldly thinking leads to an orphan spirit that’s ok with the status quo. Worldly thinking is apathetic to my story line, willing to wait and watch from the sidelines. I’m calling you in. But you MUST NOT FALL ASLEEP as some do! 

Please splash cold water on your face. Tarry with me a little longer. Feast on my Word, so I can strengthen you for the days ahead. This world is not your home. Come and dwell IN ME and learn what it’s like to Truly live. 

I’m calling for radical obedience. The kind that the disciples had when they left their livelihoods and followed me. This is how I still call my disciples. I would beg you to re-examine your faith and see if you haven’t gotten a little too comfortable with fitting me in your box. 

The call to be my disciple should not be an add-on to what you’re already doing it should be a replacing of all “self life”, with all of me. 

It’s uncomfortable. It’s dying daily to the old manner of doing and thinking about things and allowing yourself to come like a child and learn from me with a heart of humility and wide-eyed wonder.
