Messing Up is Part of the Process

 “I love you dearly. I’ve never stopped loving you —even in your most wretched state- when you stopped loving yourself. You need to love that version of yourself. Forgive yourself. Allow yourself to go back to that time. Invite me in. Ask me to show you how I see that version of you. Then it will be easy to forgive. If other memories surface, that provoke shame, bring me into those places too until all you see is my love covering you. I want you to allow me to love you. You’re not who you once were. I’ve translated you from the kingdom of darkness. Don’t keep trying to hide from me. 

Even if it was recently, you feel like you fell right on your face. You haven’t failed me. The righteous fall seven times and get back up! Messing up is part of the process when you’re learning to walk. You may fall down at times. Does a parent yell at a baby for falling down when learning to walk? No! The parent rejoices to see the baby learning and growing in understanding and bravery! I’m so happy to see you trying again and again. 

Your righteousness is not in performing well. It’s in receiving my friendship by faith. I’ve already given you my righteousness. Just wear it everyday as a gift from your lover. Show it off like you would an engagement ring. I am yours now. Everything I have I offer to you. See yourself as I see you- completely forgiven and completely new- free from shame, guilt, and condemnation in me. I’ve already found you not guilty. Stop punishing yourself. I’m not punishing you. 

Keep turning your heart back to me. That’s what delights my heart. That’s what I’m seeking- those whose hearts are for me. 

Maybe you feel like your heart isn’t tender toward me right now. Maybe you feel like your heart has grown a little cold, a little hard, a little sad. I understand. This world has been harsh towards your heart. I’m here to tell you- 

I can warm your heart again. I can soften your heart again. I can bring joy to your heart again. 

I can repair to better than before. If you want to be tender toward me- Ask me. I will remind you of my love. I will give you more hunger and more oil for the fire of your heart. 

I will show you the fire in my eyes for you. I will show you the depths I went to on Calvary for you personally. In this place, I will restore your trust in me again. My love will cause a response of longing in you. 

I will recalibrate your focus back to truth. Hand me those lenses you’ve been seeing through. I’m bringing an adjustment to how you see. Here are your new lenses. Look at how large I am in these new lenses! It’s almost as if all you see is me. Those negative things that used to take up the whole frame- You can hardly see them now! Those were the thing that would wear you down with depression and worry.  The darkness that once loomed so large it overwhelmed you is so small it seems as less than nothing compared to my glory. You will begin to give me my rightful place in your thoughts- magnified above every circumstance in your life. The fears that once bound you are now little gnats that you can remove with a just flick of your fingers. 

I’m teaching you that in me is fullness of joy and at my right hand are pleasures forever more! This posture in me brings peace, joy, and hope to the forefront. 

I am showing you the real reality of my words-

“He who is within you is greater than he who is in the world.” 

and, 

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” 

If you are in me, you’re victory is assured. In fact, it’s already yours! You ARE more than a conqueror.
